Decisions made in a social setting are almost always altered based on hearing the decisions of others. Nearly every single decisions is affected by it.
So, choose your novel silently!
You will choose from three books.
Fellowship of the Ring by Tolkien
Mistborn by Sanderson
A wizard of Earthsea byLeGuin
AKA
The high fantasy flavor everyone has been trying to match since before it happened. Wordy but moving and remembered as the world's most famous fantasy story.
The magician himself writes magic as if it were science and characters as if they were always there. Great
Harry Potter's OG who's been saving the world he kinda' messed up in the first place. Moar spells plz. An author who has inspired so many and redefined the fantasy trends of her time. She wrote HP before HP was HP.
Anyway, choose, choose but don't say a word. You will silently choose your pick and once you write it down, it cannot be undone. What your friend is reading shouldn't matter.
Also, for those of you in a panic over reading a book, we are only using the book as a case study. We will read pieces for reference and you can decide what you need to read to get the discussions done. If you choose to read the book, it will just make the class easier.
Case Study
something researched, observed, studied as a progression over time
As we read the expositions of each novel, our discussions will focus on the author's use of creative writing elements, her writing style, and his use of dialogue. Imagine studying a professional athlete's workouts and then using them to make yourself better.
