Oddir is in his room at the tribe’s temple. His staff leaned against a bookshelf while Oddir readies himself for the day. He walks to the bookshelf and grabs various books of blessings, curses, and omens of the sorts. Once Oddir finished with gathering his books, he reached for the various amounts of engraved stones, charms and other mystical pieces. He swept them into a different pocket of his satchel. Oddir strolls to the bookshelf again and reaches for his staff and ties it to his back.
As Oddir heads to the door, he hears someone approaching. “Father, is that you?” Oddir called out, and a women’s voice that poorly tries to imitate his father’s replies. “Yes, my disappointment of a son,” followed up by a chuckle. Oddir swings open the door to see the sweet Matheld standing there. “Wow Father, you gotten uglier since yesterday,” Oddir said which Mathled replied with a playful punch to the shoulder. “It’s good to see you haven’t changed a bit” Oddir said. “It’s good to see you too...how is your father?” Mathled replied. “I try my best but I fear his time is coming to join Underion in the Kingdom of Souls” Oddir explained reluctantly. Mathled faces darkens a bit and moves closer to comfort Oddir, but then Oddir says “Well, no time to dwell right now, we have work.”
Just when Oddir and Mathled are about to do their daily chores, a man runs up to Oddir and spits out “Someone has been meddling in the graveyard and now the Undead are upon us!” Without hesitating, Oddir sprints to the center of the tribe where no doubt his father will be attempting to unbind the enchantment. “Father, let me join you, you can’t do this by yourself!” Oddir cries out. “Well then don’t stand there and come on!” his Father yells. Oddir swoops in and helps his Father draw the necessary runes to undo the mess. Oddir grabs his amulet around his neck as he finishes drawing the runes and saying the words. Pain is shared between father and son as their eyes and mouths begin to bleed black. Oddir accidently crushes the chalk in his hand from the extreme pain. The Undead fiends begin to screech as loud as they can, and then their heads all explode.
The pain begins to fade away but when Oddir glances at his father, he sees him writhing on the floor violently. Oddir gets close and embraces his father, trying to get the shaking to stop. His father moves near Oddir’s ear and whispers softly “Go to the city cleansed of sin. Deep within the washed walls, a fire burns that makes kingdoms fall. From the flame can you get the power to save the ones that are not to blame.” His Father slowly leans back as he grasps his last breath, leaving for the Soul Kingdom. Sadness and Despair crash against Oddir’s mind like the ocean tides but he remains composed. Oddir stands up and heads for his horse. Mounted upon his steed, and with only the things he had on his back, Oddir rides off towards the famed Washed City, known as “Elantris.”
New Revelations
"Careful now, we wouldn't want you to hurt yourself now would we?" Master Cato cautioned as Oddir tried doing a enchantment. It was a simple fire enchantment, to help Oddir protect himself from things that hate fire, like wolves. He stood in the circle, then chanted "Searing Flame! Be my Shield!" The circle and runes began to glow, with orange as bright as the sun and red as deep as blood. Focusing hard, he imagined the flame swirling him, but never to consume him. He imagined a huge flame, flickering and sputtering to life, and consuming all that dared to approach. But then, a chain of iron lashed from the darkness. It pierced the flaming veil and grabbed the center, consuming the flame.
Oddir woke up, in a room with lots of beds and supplies. This must be some sort of a infirmary. "Wakey wakey sunshine, you nearly killed us both" Master Cato told Oddir, with a smile staring and ending from his cheeks. "You need to learn to focus, or else you might not live to make another mistake" Catoe explained, his tone more serious. "I-I'm sorry, I don't know what happened" Oddir said, but that was a lie. He knew exactly what happened. What happened at Ravencore and that monster left him mentally scarred. It's lifeless eyes, it's ragged breaths, rotting flesh stitched together. But worst of all, it's horrifying roar and lack of pain made it feel like it came from the depths of Helgrad itself. Ever since he and Ember encountered it, it never left him. "If I may, can I retire to my room?" Oddir requested. Master Cato simply sighed and nodded his head. Oddir thanked him and retreated to his room.
The room was covered in a veil of coldness and darkness. With a simple wave of Oddir's hand, the candles within his room erupted and became lit. Unknown to him, a woman, who's hair was dark and flowed like the sea, appeared in front of him. Water began the seep from the walls and the ceiling. With a motion of her hand, Oddir was flung against the door, the wood splinting from the impact. From there, a mystical force restrained Oddir's body in a kneeling position. "Listen to me now, for I shall not repeat myself again! Find the monster, find the doctor, and find the witch. Slay them all with no mercy, use any means necessary! I command thee, go forth in my name!" The mysterious woman commanded, her voice as loud and shaking as a storm's furious thunder. Then, the water that has been coming from the walls and ceiling begun to envelope the woman. She and the water became one and sunk through the floor, as soon as she came, she left. Trying to gather himself, Oddir stands up to look for clues. From his window he found the most peculiar animal in the distance looking his way. It was an owl, looking directly at Oddir, as if it was telling him to follow. Then the the owl flew from where it was towards the Mistborn forest. Oddir knew what had to be done, but at what cost.
It was the dead of night. There was silence in the vault of forbidden items. Until Oddir broke through the thick steel. Fortunately, he knew a enchantment to keep the tower's peace as to not alert of anyone of his deed. Upon entering the vault, Oddir saw shelves filled with artifacts and books, banned by the clergy for their "dark nature." Shuffling through them, Oddir scanned through the items until he found what he was looking for. There lied a ball of pure, clear crystal where a ruby hovered perfectly in the center, a crimson red glowing from the ruby. Here it is, the blood crystal from the witch I'd slain to join the Inquisitors. Quickly, Oddir shoved it in his satchel before heading out, to the Mistborn forest.
Deep within the forest, Oddir found a house, made of cobble and copper. Interesting choice of building material. The house loomed over Oddir, bigger than a cottage but not quite the height of a castle. The stone was cracked and lined with moss, with the wooden door looked old and brittle, lathered with splinters and holes. However, what wasn't there was a iron chain that bursted from the door, wrapping itself around Oddir and pulling him in, his screams fading in the darkness. Oddir was flung against the wall with a loud thud from the impact. Pain sprawled from his spine all over as Oddir attempted to stand. Standing before him was the monster from Ravencore. It's skin blacken from the flames it endured during the fight, but standing on legs held together by stitch and magic. Besides the monster stood a figure clad with potions and tools, who bore a white cloak and dark hair. Thick boots and gloves to complete the look of a doctor. "You must the one who attacked my creation, well, now you shall pay." The doctor said with a stern tone. His face then light up, with a sinister idea brewing in his head. "I have a little experiment for you to do. I am well aware of the crystal in your satchel. Let us see if you can defeat my creation with your magic. If you kill him, you will be free, if you lose, you can be my test subject" the mad doctor said with a maniacal grim flashing on his face. Oddir opened his mouth to speak, before the floor beneath him caved him and Oddir fell into more darkness, with the doctor waving goodbye as he pulled a lever, closing the opening in the floor above Oddir.
The Beginning of a new Chapter
Well, that could have gone better. The tall Templar was busy ransacking Oddir’s belongings. Oddir lifts his shirt, his rib area looking like a grape. The Templar reached out and grabbed a crystal ball with a ruby in it. The Templar glances at Oddir then continues his search. “Why do you have this?”, the guard demanded. “Well, sir, if you have given me the chance to explain then I might have told you that I had seek out the Inquisition.” Oddir stated. The Templar scoffs and says “Whatever, next time, tell us before you decide to wander off”. Oddir gathers his things and head for the gate. Well, that could have gone worse.
Upon reaching Elantris, Oddir looked up to the sky and began to think. The skies darken with clouds, allowing no sunlight through, as it seemed that it will rain. But, all the sudden, two clouds moved slightly to allow a ray of light to pierce through the veil. Confidence reemerged, Oddir continued his journey to the High Spire, home of the Inquisitors, where Lord Caarska awaits. On his way, he encountered a merchant who was selling rune chalk. Oddir checked his pouch and it felt light, he decided not to buy some chalk and continued.
The High Spire loomed over Elantris ,like a king looking down to his subjects, and the doors massive in their height and strength. When Oddir approach, two inquisitors slammed their staffs on the ground, a thundering noise surged the surrounding area. “I am here to join the Inquisition, I brought an item from a witch I burned in the Mistborn Forest,” Oddir explains as he reaches out and pulls the crystal ball from his satchel. At first, the two guards tensed but then stepped aside. At least I wasn’t crushed this time. Oddir stepped through the door and into the High Spire.
The Lord Caarska’s office is at the top of the spire. Oddir sighed as he began his journey up the stairs. Upon reaching the door, Oddir stopped for a minute and then knocked on the door. The door opened itself, no doubt an enchantment, Oddir stepped through and approached Lord Caarska. “You have returned, I hope you have something to show for” Lord Caarska inquired. “M’lord, I have brought a blood crystal from a witch hidning in the forest lord”. Oddir says. Lord Caarska raises his eyebrow “Oh really, where is the witch”? Oddir takes a deep breath and explains “The witch attacked me lord, so I burned her which also burned down her hut and anything flammable, lord”. Lord Caarska laughs, “Well, you did bring something back to show, so it’s not a complete lost. Welcome, Initiate Oddir, to the Inquisition, Lord Cato will be your mentor until your training is complete”. Oddir faces lights up and says his thanks. He leaves Lord Caarska’s office and see an old man with a wizen old hat. “Hello, new blood, looks like we’ll be working together, I'm Cato”. Oddir sighed, seeing the work cut out ahead of him.
