Basil and Chim looked at each other as the girl walked away without letting them introduce themselves.
"Do purple-haired women who don't really care about anyone but themselves and like maybe one other person just surround me?" Chim said as he started to climb the tree again.
Rina turns to the woman, who had purple hair too, and said, "Hey thanks. My name is Rina. I would love to stay and talk but I need to get my friend back to Elantris. But thank you!" Rina picked up Eartha and went on her way back to Elantris.
Basil took her wand and her free hand and pointed them towards the top of the tree. She forcefully pulled her hands down and at first, only a few leaves fell. She tried again with more force and more will. The tree falls and lands directly on the monster. Purple goo goes everywhere, making a mess of the warriors on the forest floor.
Rina grabbed her bow and reached for an arrow from her back but there was none left. Instinctively, she grabbed a stone from the ground. She jumped onto a fallen tree and thrust herself towards the monster. She pulled back her arm and aimed at the monster's black eye. She launched stone and watched as is it successfully hit it in the eye. The monster screamed in agony because of the loss of sight in its right eye. Rina landed on her feet and looked up at the monster who was wailing its arms on the ground. She ran up to the monster and stepped in its other eye. The monster was blinded.
"Basil, can you knock down some trees," Chim says after he'd recovered from almost being shot by the new woman. Basil made a face as he jumped back but quickly responded to his question.
"I can try but I haven't exactly mastered that skill yet." She ran to a nearby tree and sized it up.
Rina looked at Eartha's lifeless body on the ground. Suddenly, two people jumped from the tree above her. With her bow ready to shoot, she turned toward them, not realizing her bow was loaded. "Hey umm can you guys help me here? I'll introduce myself later."
"They obviously need some help," Chim said, grimacing at the disaster below. They were up in a tree watching the sky for their current target: a witch Chim had learned about in the market.
"Not that we're much help but we should difinitely try," Basil responded starring down the big glob of a monster. The duo jumped from their post on a branch, soaring through the air. They landed strongly on the ground, heads down. Basil and Chim looked as though they've appeared out of no where for the soul reason of fighting this monster. Their heads flicked up perfectly in sync and they starred down the oozing blue blob.
Eartha was nervous about using her bow for the first time. She pulls out the bow slowly, trying to keep still but shaking uncontrollably. She takes the shot at the monster and gets a perfect shot right under his heart and causes the monster to stumble backwards.
Rina focused her eyes down the point of her arrow. Slime spilled out of the mouth of the terror. Long nails dug into the trees as it leveraged itself towards them. The monster pulled a tree out of the cold ground. It threw the tree like a javelin at Rina. Rina ducked around the soaring tree. She balanced herself and focused her eyes back down the tip of the arrow. Her fingers let go of the arrow. She watched the arrow pierce the stomach of the monster. Blue goo oozed out of the wound.
Rina's jaw dropped at the sight of the bow. "It's beautiful," said Rina in awe. The two looked at the bow for minutes on ends. All of a sudden, a loud boom shook the ground they were standing on. They quickly turned around. Their eyes widened at the sight. A tall, slimy, purple monster stood before them. They grabbed their bows, widened their stances, and got ready to fight.
"I found this box shush give me a minute," said Eartha feistily. It took Eartha about 10 minutes of struggling with this box to get it open. She began to open it slowly. Both Eartha's and Rina's face lit up due to the beauty of the bow that had been found. "This must be for me," Eartha stated in astonishment.
Rina's ears tuned Eartha out because she had heard that speech what seemed like hundreds of times. Rina looked down at her feet and walked a couple yards when she realized Eartha was not there anymore. Rina looked around for her but didn't see her. She yelled for her but no response. She heard grunting off to the west. Her ears led her to the sound. When she arrived, she saw Eartha fidgeting with a metal case. She looked at her with suspicion and asked, "What are you doing?"
[[If you can get the coffer open, there is an ebony bow inside. A quiver of latched arrows underneath. The piece is brilliantly preserved, and seems to possibly be an artifact from the original architects of Elantris itself.]] You must roll at least a 5 to be able to open the case.
The sound of trickling water nearby tings with a soft echo of stream meeting metal. An odd sound for anyone familiar with forest soundscapes. Upon investigation, the sound is a coffer (a small metal case), lodged in the rocks at the bottom of the stream. It sticks up half way out of the water and while it is sealed, it is clearly something valuable.
"Nobody can be sure," Eartha responded. Eartha's face became gloomy. "Not that I'm not pumped and excited to be here, but I really miss my family back home," Eartha added. "This should be a good experience for us, i'm ready to take on the challenges," Eartha said inspiringly.
Rina walked along the narrow paths with Eartha. Rina's long purple hair was tied up in a knot. Their footsteps were identical as they walked a fast pace. Rina's deep grey eyes looked around at the tall trees. She looked over at Eartha, who seemed deep in thought, and said, "Why do you think we are here? Like, in Elantris? Why are we the chosen ones?"

Rina pulled back to shoot another arrow aggressively but accidentally elbowed Eartha in the head. Eartha tumbles to the ground unconscious.
