Within the ancient forest of the south resides the kingdom of the Meladrin. Back when magics were first discovered the Meladrin ancestors used water elemental magic to cure their dying forest through the soil and into the tree’s roots, now the oldest trees of the forest thrive underwater as a side effect to the magics. Since the soil and trees of the ancient forest flow with water magics, the Meladrin chose the border of this forest as the place for their kingdom. As the years went by the Meladrin fell into chaos, the Resveld none the wiser, eventually the Forest caught ablaze, twice. The people called forward a new king, one that promised a time of eternal peace as long as outside interference was minimal, and so the age of a better king began. The new ruler immediately started with enchanting the entire city of his people to erode and fall apart faster then proceeded to move Eastwards as much as possible where in the heart of The Enchanted Forest he started the City of Maldrenin. Maldrenin blossomed immediately, becoming the home of almost the entire Meladrin people, aside from the town of Meldran which was started 15 years later to the Northeast and the town of Mandrin another 5 years after that just southeast of Meldran. The Meladrin started working on a third town, one that remains and will always be unnamed, one that fell to the power of magic before it was even conceived. The unnamed town was where the Meladrin started storing scrolls and books of magic, which came to a fiery end when a corrupt Meladrin royal adviser sought out to stop the king from creating a second Elantris. Ever since then the Meladrin king has fallen silent and called his country to pacifist ideals, trying his best to keep the peace. Eventually, while the people still believed that Meldrenin was to become a waterproofed city, they started construction of a second “Fountain of Nira”. Their king finally spread news of the lost textbooks, the people immediately stopped the building of the fountain which now stand empty and half built. Nowadays, you can go out to the center of the kingdom and watch as the second fountain continues to crumble much like the abandoned city of the Ancient Forest.
